Merced County IHSS Public Authority Registry has been established to recruit, screen, and provide a referral list of potential Providers to IHSS Consumers who want to hire someone to provide them with personal and/or domestic care.

HOW TO USE THE REGISTRY

Consumer:

  • Contact the Registry to complete the Application. A written Intake Form will be completed on every Consumer requesting services from the Registry,
     
  • Give Registry staff necessary information about the tasks to be completed and what hours have been authorized by the Social Worker,
     
  • The Consumer information will be entered into the Registry software computer to match a potential provider,
     
  • A list of computer-matched providers will be mailed within 5-7 working days,
     
  • Consumer will then interview, choose, and hire a provider.

Potential Providers:

  • Interested individuals must complete an application. A written Intake Form will be completed on every Provider,
     
  • Give necessary information about the tasks willing to do and/or experience in doing for a
    Consumer,
     
  • The Provider information will be entered into the Registry software computer to be matched with an IHSS Consumer needing services.

IHSS Registry Service will never “recommend” any provider. Potential providers are only suggestions on provider availability. It is the Consumer’s responsibility to choose which provider to hire.

WHO IS THE EMPLOYER

The Consumer is the employer for the purpose of selecting, hiring, and firing the IHSS Provider.

The State of California is the employer for the purpose of paying for IHSS hours worked.

The IHSS Public Authority is the employer for the purpose of collective bargaining with the union for negotiating wages and benefits.

TRAINING FOR CONSUMERS AND PROVIDERS

Training services will be made available to all Merced County IHSS Consumers and Providers. All training will be voluntary and at no cost.
