Children's Services

Overview
Children's Services works with several Merced County service agencies to provide services to families with emotionally disturbed children and adolescents. The goal of this program is to keep the youth with family, while attending school, and out of trouble.  For the following services, call (209) 381-6800 or toll free (888) 334-0163.

Assessments
An assessment is a thorough exam of the history and current state of the individual's mental, emotional, and behavioral concerns used to determine what mental health services are needed. Related cultural issues and history are also examined.

Case Management
Case management services help families connect with community resources and aid children and youth in meeting their treatment goals.

Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT)
EPSDT is a Medi-Cal service that corrects or improves mental health problems for children and young people under the age of 21.

Medication Support
We provide services that evaluate and monitor individuals who need psychotropic medications.

Multi-Disciplinary Staff
Trained staff who can provide a variety of treatment approaches are available.

Parenting Groups
Parenting groups provide psycho-education and behavioral information and education.

Therapeutic Behavior Services (TBS)
TBS are available for children and youth up to age 21 who are full-scope Medi-Cal beneficiaries. TBS is one-on-one contact between mental health providers and a beneficiary for a brief period of time to maintain the youth's living situation and prevent psychiatric hospitalization by resolving problem behaviors and achieving short-term goals.

Therapy

Individual, family, and group therapy are offered to meet mental health needs.
